Dr Dave Beebe has been the president of the Camillus Canal Society and the Director of the Camillus Erie Canal Park Since 1972. After graduating from St. Lawrence University and the University of Pennsylvania Dental School, Dave served in the army in Germany. He was also the President of the local Audubon Society where he was dedicated to saving wildlife areas. He served on the Board of Directors of New York State Canal Society for many years. He is the author of " Camillus Halfway there". He has received many awards and among them possibly the most treasured, is the Spirit of the Canal Award presented to the Beebes at the Rochester World Canal Conference in 2000. Also they received an Outstanding Alumni Citation from St. Lawrence University and have been inducted in the West Genesee and Town of Camillus Hall of Fame. Dr. Dave Beebe's talk will touch base on D-Day Beaches at Normandy and the Maginot Line. He will talk about his experiences while stationed in Germany and show rare looks into Maginot Line fortresses and a German U-Boat at Saint Nazarie.
