2025 marks the Bicentennial of the Erie Canal!
Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 11 am - 5 pm
Relax and enjoy live folk music, delicious food, and interactive folk arts demonstrations.
Take in the historic setting of Chittenango Landing, a dry dock site that served the Erie Canal from 1855 until 1917.
Explore the recreated General Store, and imagine what it was like to do business along the Canal
Outside
Check out the Mule Barn, learn from blacksmiths working at the Forge, and visit the Sawmill where the raw material of Central New York forests was cut to make timber for canal boats
Explore an 80% scale model canal boat, and follow in the footsteps of mule drivers as you walk along the tow path
Inside
Visit the Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum, where exhibits explain the history of the Landing, and how the site was rediscovered in the 1980s.
Learn about the different types of boats that plied the Erie Canal in the 1800s. Discover the people - and the mules, of course - that made the Erie Canal a catalyst for the development of a young United States of America.
